New LED lights have replaced the old sodium vapor ones in the final stage of a project to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the Saint John Horticultural Association.

Board President Michael Richard is enthusiastic about the results. “The replacement lighting immediately enhances the appearance of the Gardens, and it complements the heritage styling of the lighting in the area. Also, the cost saving in terms of energy use is significant,” Richard said.

Installation of the eight new light standards went smoothly with the in-kind support of experts. "We are honoured to partner with Saint John Horticultural Association to install and wire LED lights to illuminate a beautiful and tranquil spot that Saint John residents have enjoyed for over a century, " said Ray Robinson, President and CEO of Saint John Energy. "We are committed to providing sustainable and energy efficient solutions for our community that can be enjoyed for many future generations."

The new LEDs will improve lighting on the well-used pathways in the Gardens for many years to come. Made of rugged cast aluminum, the light standards have a forest green coating that resists UV and salt damage. Even the globes, which look like glass, are made of a seamless polycarbonate that is designed for a long lifespan.
